Almaty, Kazakhstan, November 21, 2024 – Public Union “Red Crescent Society of the Republic of Kazakhstan” have provided assistance to people affected by the flood.
With support from Citibank Kazakhstan JSC (affiliated with Citigroup), a donation has been used to support the most affected regions of Kazakhstan based on an ongoing needs assessment. The Red Crescent Society of Kazakhstan has provided families with 3 children and more under 18 years old, people with disabilities, the elderly and single-parent families KZT 45,000 for each family member. Citi’s support extends to a total of 1,670 individuals from West Kazakhstan and Atyrau regions.
Saule Zhakayeva, Chairperson of the Management Board of Citibank Kazakhstan JSC said, “Recovery from such a disaster is a long and difficult journey, which is why Citi pledged to support the long-term relief efforts. My hope is that this contribution, together with the efforts of other companies, will support our citizens and instill hope for a better future”.
“Since the onset of the spring floods, the Red Crescent Society of Kazakhstan has been tirelessly working to provide the affected people with essential supplies. We have prioritized support for families with children, elderly individuals living alone, single-parent families, and families with members who have disabilities.
Currently, we are also focused on organizing aid for people affected by floods during the recovery phase following the disaster. We are thankful to Citi Kazakhstan for their support. Only by uniting can we overcome these challenges!”, says Yerkebek Argymbayev, President of the Red Crescent of Kazakhstan.
